"Laut Krell (2012) dürfte gallicus die korrekte Bezeichnung für den bis dahin in weiten Teilen Europas als „zonatus“ bekannten Käfer sein. Der Paläarktis-Katalog (Löbl & Löbl, 2016) führt diesen Käfer nun als Unterart Trichius gallicus gallicus neben der Unterart T. g. zonatus für einen Käfer aus dem südlichen Mittelmeerraum. "According to Krell (2012), gallicus should be the correct name for the beetle known as "zonatus" from large parts of Europe. The Palearctic catalogue (Löbl & Löbl, 2016) now lists that beetle as subspecies Trichius gallicus gallicus , next to the subspecies T. g. zonatus for a beetle from the southern Mediterranean.
