Trentepohlia: Plant in habitat Desert in the NatureSpots App "Die Grünalgengattung Trentepohlia lebt in Symbiose mit der Flechte Chaenotheca hispidula (kurzer Rindenstiel). Im Freiland erkennt man Trentepohlia durch Kratzen des Untergrundes mit dem Fingernagel, was zu einer orangen Verfärbung führt. Hinweis: Oftmals finden sich große Mengen freilebender Trentepohlia-Algen auf demselben Stiel! The green algae genus Trentepohlia lives in symbiosis with the lichen Chaenotheca hispidula (short bark stalk). In the field, the presence of Trentepohlia can be detected by scratching the substrate with a fingernail, which causes an orange discoloration.
