"Die Schneckenraupe (Apoda limacodes) ist ein Nachtfalter aus der Familie der Limacodidae (Schneckenraupen). Ihre Flügelspannweite beträgt 20 bis 30 Millimeter. In den Niederlanden ist sie ein weit verbreiteter Nachtfalter. Die fast beinlosen Raupen sind im August und September an Eichen und Buchen zu finden. Die grüne Raupe bewegt sich wie eine Schnecke und ähnelt aufgrund der fehlenden sichtbaren Beine stark einer Schnecke. Daher kommt auch der niederländische Name „slakrupsen“ (Schneckenraupen) der Familie Limacodidae. Die Schneckenraupe fliegt im Juni und Juli.
